The acs5 at state level uses a gnis coding in query. maybe others do also. It is suggested that only FIPS codes, census codes (places, tracts etc), and OMB codes (cbsa etc) be used. folks are far more familiar with FIPS codes and it willl reduce a) confusion and b) Census resources to maintain a additional layer of geocodes. it might be that gnis is going to be a national standard, maybe, but we are not there now.
The App Gallery shows Easystats using the API operations. Easystats is presently the only source of ACS 2011 1 year data for 113th Congressional Districts. Can those same data be available to us via API calls? If so, 1) the same scope of ACS 2011 1 year items should be available minimally for the US 010 & states 040 (not supported by easystats) and 2) there needs to be a minimal expansion of another 50-60 subject ...more »
This is a request to add access to the Census 2010 SF1 113th Congressional District data scheduled for release on 4/11/13. Also repeating the request to add school district level access for existing Census 2010 SF1 data.
At Api Hound you can explore a wide range of API list.
I am doing a http get http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=user key&get=P0010001,NAME&for=state:* and this succeeds with response of 200, but the JSON elements are null. This same call used to work a few days back, now I get the following: ["P0010001","NAME","state"],["null","null","null"],["null","null","null"],...
When I try an API call like: http://api.census.gov/data/1990/sf1?key=mykey&get=NAME&for=state:*, I get an error message stating "unknown variable 'NAME'". When I replace the 1990 with 2000 or 2010 I get the expected result.
For local governments that are lacking expertise or resources, is there an option to provide an API to link to their website for visual and textual display?
This tool is available in the AFF table view options, would a similar tool for comparing maps displaying data be a benefit for the community?
for item DP02_0103E ... this works for CA 12 but does not for many/most other districts eg, AL 01, AZ 01, ID 01, ID 02 ...
Can you please verify & advise? Thank you.
for Census team -
are the summary level 795, Public Use Microdata Area available in the recently posted ACS 2012 1 year data?
The geography type "public+use+microdata+area" does not seem to work.
Are Component Level data available? e.g. US: Urban?
Please note that the 2012 data profiles may return the following in place of data. We will update the documentation on the website. An '**' entry in the margin of error column indicates that either no sample observations or too few sample observations were available to compute a standard error and thus the margin of error. A statistical test is not appropriate. An '-' entry in the estimate column indicates that either ...more »
