General design and specific API questions

Hello everyone, This is a question requiring some general direction and also some technical help: I would like to automatically (daily, weekly?) upload ACS reports by county (all 3200+) into a database hosted locally. My boss wants it in MS Access (this is not up for debate, I have tried). From MS Access, we'd like to be able to extract the fields we need to populate a .xls file or any other format. Eventually, even ...more »

Population by Zip

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'd like to query the population for a specific zip code. I'm hoping there's a way to do this without defining the two number state code in the query. Here's what my current query looks like... http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[myKey]&get=P0010001&for=zip+code+tabulation+area:[myZipCode]&for=state:*"; This works perfectly when I define the Zip Code and ...more »

DATE variable in Population Estimates API

Is there any documentation for interpreting the values returned in the DATE variable in the population estimates API?

For example, http://api.census.gov/data/2013/pep/natstprc?get=POP,DATE&for=state:25&key=xxxxx returns numerically coded data values (e.g., "1", "6"). I can see by the data that 6 = 2013 but would love to see official documentation somewhere.

Thanks!

Population Pyramid for Zip Code

Hello,

I'm new to using the API and was wondering if you have seen examples of using the API to retrieve data needed to build a population pyramid for population of a zip code.

If there are no examples, I would like to build it with a team and add it to the forum for public use. Let me know if you want to collaborate.

Thanks!

Is the population data available for all counties for 2013?

http://api.census.gov/data/2013/acs1/profile?get=DP05_0001E,NAME&for=county:*

While using the link above, I get the data for approx 800 counties, but there are more than 3000 counties in the country. Is the data available for all counties? If yes, how do I get the data?
