Hi, I've been working with the following query: http://api.census.gov/data/2012/popproj/pop?get=TOTAL_POP,POP_4,POP_3,POP_2,POP_1,POP_0&ORIGIN=0&RACE=0&SEX=0&YEAR=2012&key= I think it is returning total usa population of age 5 and under for the year 2012. Is there a way to get the same information for each state? In other words is per state information available from popproj/pop? Or do I need to query another data ...more »
API Technical Discussions
I am looking for a solid WebService API method that will allow me to submit an http request with a pre-validated US Street/City/State/Zip address and return COUNTY in xml or json about 200 times per work day.It looks like the US Census API may do it? Is the data current enough? What might a request look like? Many thanks in advance.
I would like to access specific population data for Black African America population data by state, county and city. Is this possible today? If so how do I access the data to use for an App? If not, can this feature be created?
API calls are only returning some of the counties in a state. For example, this call will only return 53 of the 254 counties in Texas.
I'm working on a school project with 2010 Census data. Currently, we are getting tract-level data using codes from http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1/variables.json to get data. For example, to find the white 65-year old males in a county's tracts, we make the API call: http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=PCT012I068,NAME&for=tract:*&in=state:08+county:059 However, when making the same call at a block ...more »

Hi All, The API has incredible functionality for query/results within the nested US Census Bureau Geography (e.g. getting data for all the tracts in a county or all the block groups within a track). However, it does not appear to support queries that run across the same geography very well. For instance It does not appear to allow me to query the same parameter (e.g. race) in Tract A within County B and Tract C ...more »

I am having trouble accessing ZCTA-level in ACS 5-year released on December 17, 2013.
Here is an example query that works for 2011 but not for 2012.
I have been working on my application and one of the things I would like to do is query the same variable on multiple geographies. For instance, get the total population at the Block Group, Tract, County, State, and Nation.
Right now, it is my understanding that this would represent five different calls to the API.
Can this be done in one call to the API ?
I am trying to get information on disability information per zip code? http://api.census.gov/data/2000/sf3?key=(key)&get=P041001,NAME&for=zip+code+tabulation+area:(5 digit zip code)&in=state:(numerical identifier for states) It is returning nothing however when I use tract in place of zip code tabulation area it works. So I am wondering if it just doesn't work by zip code or possibly I am doing something wrong. I am currently ...more »
I've seen multiple links to a dead URL for a list of states and their codes. This needs to be corrected.
I want to know if there is any way to access the population of individual country using the API.
Please note that the 2012 data profiles may return the following in place of data. We will update the documentation on the website. An '**' entry in the margin of error column indicates that either no sample observations or too few sample observations were available to compute a standard error and thus the margin of error. A statistical test is not appropriate. An '-' entry in the estimate column indicates that either ...more »
