Determine street address from different geo coordinates

Is there a proven formula to match up slightly different lat/lng values to a street address without submitting both of them to a Geocoding service (since we've already done so and don't want to make a second api call). eg. The following coordinates are for the same street address (55 Church Street zip code 07505), but one set points to the building and the other to the street. lat : 40.9170109 long: -74.1702248 lat: ...more »

IN Clause for Census Tracts within New York City

I want to retrieve tract level data for all of New York City. I know I can do this using five different calls, one for each of the five counties. I would like to do this with a single call. I have read that the IN clause does not support this (&in=state:36+county:005,061,047,081,085 only returns records for 005). Perhaps this could be done using a place but this is currently not a supported geographic hierarchy.

Working on our first mobile application in high-end gated communities. Anybody have any experience with simply obtaining accurate gated community numbers nationally? or locally?

Get Lat/Long of Census Tracts

In order to draw a tract polygon, I need a list of lat/longs that define each tract. (For example, a tract that is exactly a square would have four lat/long points that define it.)

Is there an established way to get the lat/long of a census tract?

How to use GNIS codes

Hi everyone, Since some fips code change between to census campaign due to renaming or stuff like that, I was thinking of trying to use GNIS codes (hoping they don't change as much). It says here http://www.census.gov/developers/geo/ : 'Every query must include a geography, and this API supports both FIPS and GNIS geography codes.'. However I was not able to find an example of url that use it so I don't know what the ...more »
