Campaign: Using Data

Census Data for Federal Grants

Many federal grants require applicants to supply Census data when responding to RFPs. Allow agencies to create a report template in AFF for applicants. This would allow for applicants to enter an address and get centroid data that was predefined by the agency. Applicants could downloaded the table in PDF form efficiently with all the available data the federal agency requires.

Lotus Notes Calendar needs to integrate with SharePoint.

SharePoint is gainig ground as the primary collaborative platform in the Bureau. For any collaborative team (Teamsites in SharePoint) a SharePoint Calendar is available but either not used or out of sync, or manually replicated with Notes Calendar. Can we live without a real integration to Notes Calendar for long?

Point Context

http://grahamimac.com/pointcontext/

Paste any point data into Point Context, and it presents a heatmap and provides basic Census data on the average neighborhood for your points.

I originally tried to use the API but found that for larger datasets I had to make way too many API calls to get all the tract data I needed. So I downloaded and stored the Census data in my own database.

Are the letters in the front has any significance/rules, and are the following digits follow any rules? P012D007, B02001_001E, PCT012A015 etc.... ...more »

Bizup – Business Data Mashup

Build an app that pulls the most useful variables for businesses from the Census API, with some user customization or drop down menus, and which easily ports into existing commercial software packages. This would allow commercial companies to easily use Census data and mash it up with their data to support new and existing business owners

Duplicate (and incorrect) "Female 85 years and older" variable

I'm examining a tract in NYC. I found two different codes (P0120026 and P0120049) whose label and concept match exactly: "label": "Female: !! 85 years and over", "concept": "P12. Sex By Age [49]" Furthermore, they return VASTLY different values. See queries below: http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=P0120049,NAME&for=block:*&in=state:36+county:061+tract:004200 http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=P0120026,NAME&for=block:*&in=state:36+county:061+tract:004200 ...more »
