Query help

Hi, I've been working with the following query: http://api.census.gov/data/2012/popproj/pop?get=TOTAL_POP,POP_4,POP_3,POP_2,POP_1,POP_0&ORIGIN=0&RACE=0&SEX=0&YEAR=2012&key= I think it is returning total usa population of age 5 and under for the year 2012. Is there a way to get the same information for each state? In other words is per state information available from popproj/pop? Or do I need to query another data ...more »

Bugs / Problems

Duplicate (and incorrect) "Female 85 years and older" variable

I'm examining a tract in NYC. I found two different codes (P0120026 and P0120049) whose label and concept match exactly: "label": "Female: !! 85 years and over", "concept": "P12. Sex By Age [49]" Furthermore, they return VASTLY different values. See queries below: http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=P0120049,NAME&for=block:*&in=state:36+county:061+tract:004200 http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=P0120026,NAME&for=block:*&in=state:36+county:061+tract:004200 ...more »

Using Data

Getting null from ACS block-group query

For ACS data - is there a way to tell which codes are valid for tracts vs block group? Some codes work for both, some return "null" when the block-group level is queried. For example, the following url works for the tract level: http://api.census.gov/data/2010/acs5?key=4be82289939444f20513cd7c3c3eafb42e0d9ccf&get=B06007_003E,NAME&for=tract:*&in=state:08+county:059 But using the same code, it returns null for the ...more »

API extension for query across hierarchy

Hi All, The API has incredible functionality for query/results within the nested US Census Bureau Geography (e.g. getting data for all the tracts in a county or all the block groups within a track). However, it does not appear to support queries that run across the same geography very well. For instance It does not appear to allow me to query the same parameter (e.g. race) in Tract A within County B and Tract C ...more »

API supporting multiple geography query

Hi All,

I have been working on my application and one of the things I would like to do is query the same variable on multiple geographies. For instance, get the total population at the Block Group, Tract, County, State, and Nation.

Right now, it is my understanding that this would represent five different calls to the API.

Can this be done in one call to the API ?
