Hi everyone, Since some fips code change between to census campaign due to renaming or stuff like that, I was thinking of trying to use GNIS codes (hoping they don't change as much). It says here http://www.census.gov/developers/geo/ : 'Every query must include a geography, and this API supports both FIPS and GNIS geography codes.'. However I was not able to find an example of url that use it so I don't know what the... more »

ACS folks post this partial update re ACS 2012 API access:
Can you please share what ACS 2012 1 year data will be accessible when?
for item DP02_0103E ... this works for CA 12 but does not for many/most other districts eg, AL 01, AZ 01, ID 01, ID 02 ...
Can you please verify & advise? Thank you.
The API now offers 2012 ACS 1 Year data profiles for the nation, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district, every metropolitan area, and all counties and places with populations of 65,000 or more.
I have used census API in one of my application. It fetches certain census data on the basis of zip code passed.
The issue is when I am executing code from localhost it is working extremely fine but when I am migrating the same code to my server it did not produce any result.
Can anyone suggest me how to solve this issue.
Prompt response would be highly appreciated.

Updates regarding government operating status and resumption of normal operations can be found at http://www.usa.gov.
Websites affected by this shutdown are all census.gov hosted websites, are listed at
I want to know if there is any way to access the population of individual country using the API.
IS there any webservice or feature which will give me the city value for the passed coordinates. Currently, the FCC API returns FIPS Code for the coordinates, is there a way to send this FIPS code and get the city value back, any ideas, thoughts will be highly appreciated.
I would like to access specific population data for Black African America population data by state, county and city. Is this possible today? If so how do I access the data to use for an App? If not, can this feature be created?
I've seen multiple links to a dead URL for a list of states and their codes. This needs to be corrected.
