See all census tracts in a state?

Is it possible to use the API to fetch all tracts within a state? I tried the following request, but failed:

http://api.census.gov/data/2011/acs5?key=af4bfcf4a660196ff6a297eadfa70331f&get=NAME,B19013_001E,B19013_001M,NAME&for=tract:*&in=state:02+county:*

Fields Missing from API

I can't find the following fields in the SF1 API:

P0020002 Total Urban Persons

P0020003 Total Rural Persons

Are only a subset of fields availible through this API?

Also it appears that I can only request up to 5 fields (seperated by commas) through the URL string. Is there a way to query more?

wildcarding geo values

this applies to block groups, but others as well ... '+county:*+tract:*' with acs5 is not set to operate with the * wildcarding (using the above selects the first BG in each county only) but would be immensely valuable if county and tract can accept wildcarding rather than specific values. For most users, looking up a tract code is infeasible and generally not desireable (multi tracts being the norm). Thank you and ...more »

API extension for query across hierarchy

Hi All, The API has incredible functionality for query/results within the nested US Census Bureau Geography (e.g. getting data for all the tracts in a county or all the block groups within a track). However, it does not appear to support queries that run across the same geography very well. For instance It does not appear to allow me to query the same parameter (e.g. race) in Tract A within County B and Tract C ...more »

Median household income by Census Block or Census Block Group

I need so assistance in creating an API to pull Median Household Income based on a specific address or if that creates a geocoding problem, i have Lat/long coordinates already. My response from the call should be able to provide me with a dollar amount or a percent over national median household income. The result will be used in an equation. I have a key already.

ACS data for zip code tabulation area

Hi all, I am trying to use the api to collect information for zip code tabulation areas from the ACS 2011 survey. I have tried several variations of the following url, but get an unsupported/unknown geography error: http://api.census.gov/data/2011/acs5?key={key}&get=B25070_003E&for=zip+code+tabulation+area:*&in=state:06 I have read elsewhere on this form that the 2011 ACS is now available via the API by zip ...more »

Documentation needed

I am obviously overlooking something. There must be a better way to determine a "Concept"/"Variable Name" than trudging through the xml file.

Can someone please point me in the correct direction?

Thanks
