Problem in Virginia Data

Using the SF1 api, when I loop through the counties in Virginia, it finishes the county loop and then begins a loop through cities. I noticed it while running a nested loop for the entire US. Virginia was the only state that I noticed doing this, though there could be others. Here's the URL I'm using that generates this list of counties + cities. http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key={ikey}&get=NAME&for=county:*&in=state:51... more »

Voter registration / political party data?

Is there any data available for political party affiliation within census data? I know it was not part of the 2010 Census Form or the American Community Survey, but I am definitely interested in mining that information if it is available somewhere else in the census database.

subject matter search

Census has added the very helpful restructured subject matter item lists (eg, http://api.census.gov/data/2000/sf3/variables.html). Thank you. I am seeking an easy way to search for two or more keywords (eg, Age, Hispanic) in a nonphrase structure that will highlight rows/items that meet that condition. ... by searching on the unmodified html. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

Commercial/External APIs already interfacing with this data?

Hi, Are there any commercial/free APIs that are available for developers to use that are ALREADY sourcing from the Census.gov datasets? Factual's Geopulse Context was doing so as recently as 2013 but they've deprecated their API. It generated easy to access and useful demographic data from a lat/long and made importing into chart libraries super easy. Anyone know of anything similar? Happy to pay $ for a service that's... more »

zip code level data from 2000 survey

HI:

I am trying to download zip level data for 2010, 2000 and 1990 census demographic data. I have no problem for 2010 data by using the url:

http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=*&get=P001001&for=zip+code+tabulation+area:*&in=state:48

Is there anything similar for 2000 and 1990 data?

Thank you

Obtaining census tract numbers

Can I use this API to create an easy way for users on my website to get their census tract number without using a map? I simply want the users to input their residential address into text fields. Hopefully this API will spit out their 10 digit census tract number after input. I would prefer NOT to redirect applicants to a 3rd party site. I ultimately want to use the census tract number from the API to reconcile it with... more »

gender by zip code

I'm attempting to write some Python code to retrieve this information. I only have a little experience with APIs, and I'm kind of lost. import requests query_params = { 'apikey': 'mykey', 'place': , #would like to select all 'state': # would like to select all #probably need one for ZCTAs? } # PO120001 - PO120049 all sex by age categories... more »

Age and Income Data by Household

Hi, I am attempting to examine households within a given geography, and would like to count the number of households which fill certain income and age constraints. For example: Household contains person age 12 Household income between $50k and $60k Is this possible using the ACS 3-year tables? When I load a generic tabulation, I know the fields exist (age, income, location) but I cannot get the conditional results (%... more »
