A document that describes the GET commands

Hi,

This is my first time working with this site and the Census data.

On the developer home page it says:

"Data are accessible to software developers through a stateless HTTP GET request. Up to 50 variables can be requested with a single API call. In order to access data, you will need to insert a key into the request URL in order for query results to be returned. If you do not have a key assigned to you, you... more »

Demographics by zip code

Newbie here. I searched the api documentation and still do not fully understand how to use it.

I would like to find the average house value for a given zip code from the 2010 census data. Possible?

If so, please provide an example URL for 09210.

Can the same call be made for multiple zip codes that make up an area?

Thanks!

General design and specific API questions

Hello everyone,

This is a question requiring some general direction and also some technical help:

I would like to automatically (daily, weekly?) upload ACS reports by county (all 3200+) into a database hosted locally. My boss wants it in MS Access (this is not up for debate, I have tried).

From MS Access, we'd like to be able to extract the fields we need to populate a .xls file or any other format. Eventually, even... more »

Query help

Hi,

I've been working with the following query:

http://api.census.gov/data/2012/popproj/pop?get=TOTAL_POP,POP_4,POP_3,POP_2,POP_1,POP_0&ORIGIN=0&RACE=0&SEX=0&YEAR=2012&key=

I think it is returning total usa population of age 5 and under for the year 2012. Is there a way to get the same information for each state?

In other words is per state information available from popproj/pop? Or do I need to query another data... more »

COUNTY lookup by valid street address

I am looking for a solid WebService API method that will allow me to submit an http request with a pre-validated US Street/City/State/Zip address and return COUNTY in xml or json about 200 times per work day.It looks like the US Census API may do it? Is the data current enough? What might a request look like? Many thanks in advance.

Access Micro-data for Blocks

I'm working on a school project with 2010 Census data.

Currently, we are getting tract-level data using codes from http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1/variables.json to get data.

For example, to find the white 65-year old males in a county's tracts, we make the API call:
http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=PCT012I068,NAME&for=tract:*&in=state:08+county:059

However, when making the same call at a block... more »
