Latitude/Longitude in PDI

Hi All,

I am trying to call the API for the the geocoder census geographical locations for few addresses I have in my database. I want the longitude/latitude values for each address.I want to call the API through a javascript in an ETL tool. Can anyone suggest method or any useful link for that? It would be a great help.

Thanks!!

Getting null from ACS block-group query

For ACS data - is there a way to tell which codes are valid for tracts vs block group?

Some codes work for both, some return "null" when the block-group level is queried.

For example, the following url works for the tract level:
http://api.census.gov/data/2010/acs5?key=4be82289939444f20513cd7c3c3eafb42e0d9ccf&get=B06007_003E,NAME&for=tract:*&in=state:08+county:059

But using the same code, it returns null for the... more »

Block Data from ACS

In looking at the geography levels supported by 2012 ACS, I don't see block-level data.

See:
http://api.census.gov/data/2012/acs5/profile/geography.json

I am looking for block data support like this (that I'm using from 2010 decennial survey):
{
"name": "block",
"requires": [
"state",
"county",
"tract"
]
}

(http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1/geography.json)

Is there another/better... more »

Access Micro-data for Blocks

I'm working on a school project with 2010 Census data.

Currently, we are getting tract-level data using codes from http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1/variables.json to get data.

For example, to find the white 65-year old males in a county's tracts, we make the API call:
http://api.census.gov/data/2010/sf1?key=[key]&get=PCT012I068,NAME&for=tract:*&in=state:08+county:059

However, when making the same call at a block... more »

Application Ideas

Bizplanup – Community Profile Tool for Businesses

Create a "community profile" tool that focuses on pulling from multiple data sets and creates a standard report that contains most, but not all, that someone would need for a business plan or marketing plan.

The tool would generate a printable report around a custom geography, with the option to download the data behind the profile report. It would be very easy to use, and give the entrepreneur a quick and easy snap... more »

Application Ideas

Bizup – Business Data Mashup

Build an app that pulls the most useful variables for businesses from the Census API, with some user customization or drop down menus, and which easily ports into existing commercial software packages. This would allow commercial companies to easily use Census data and mash it up with their data to support new and existing business owners

New Android App Census US

Hello,
Just wanted to let you know that I've just published an android tablet app to the Google Play Store: CensusUS at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clcassidy.censusus.
The app uses the Census APIs combined with Google Maps v2. By tapping on the map and the navigation menus on the tablet, users are able to select locations at all levels of geography, from the national down to the tract level, and... more »

Using Data

All Tracts in a MSA

Is it possible to get all tracts within a MSA, as in (an attempt to get all tracts in the DC metro):

http://api.census.gov/data/2011/acs5?key=mykey&get=B00001_001E&for=tract:*&in=metropolitan+statistical+area/micropolitan+statistical+area:47900

This returns:

"error: unknown/unsupported geography heirarchy"

If not this would be useful!

Visualizing CFPB and Census Data

I am working on analyzing CFPB Consumer Complaint database with help from census data to better understand what type of financial products consumers are having trouble with. Census data helps break down what type of consumers are having what type of issues.
